The Mercado de Derivados (MEFF) is the futures and options platform within Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), the operators of Spain's stock exchanges and financial systems. BME has been part of SIX Group since 2020. BME offers a variety of products, services and trading systems based on its own technology. It provides domestic and international issuers, intermediaries and investors with access to global markets via equities, bonds, derivatives, settlement solutions and market data covering Europe, the Americas and Africa. BME occupies an important place as the reference market for options and futures linked to Spanish underlying assets through its two distinct segments: financial derivatives and energy derivatives. Financial derivatives include European and/or American options and futures on the IBEX 35, individual stocks such as BBVA, Iberdrola, Repsol, Telefonica or Santander, dividend-linked indices and Forex with xRolling, while energy derivatives focus on the supply of swaps and futures on electricity from the MIBEL (Iberian electricity market). Thanks to its commitment to innovation and progress, MEFF's highly specialised financial expertise has positioned it as a leading player on the European Spanish derivatives markets scene since its inception in 1989. This international recognition stems from its ability to constantly adapt to the evolutions and demands of the ever-changing financial market.
